{décor inspiration: always herringbone}

. . . while chevron most certainly comes close, in the end, and from any view point, there is nothing quite like the timeless elegance of herringbone . . .

{office inspiration: light & bright}

all-in-a-days-work-hed
dream-office

. . . after spending two days organizing and re-organizing the office, have been irresistibly drawn to images of office inspiration, and while aerin lauder's classic white & gold décor will always be a favourite, quite adore this light and bright workspace with french doors and wood panelled walls, luxuriously over-sized and mirrored desk, and most certainly, the glossy, honey-coloured herringbone floors . . .

{décor inspiration: warm & woodsy}

. . . every year at this time, always and irresistibly drawn to dusky neutrals and rich textures -- exposed ceiling beams and washed floorboards, luxe velvet and stacks upon stacks of firewood, always perfectly paired, of course, with glittering chandeliers; and while always quite adored wicker in the summertime, had not imagined how lovely wicker ottomans and armchairs could be in the colder months, next to fireplaces and perfect for apéritifs on chilly & cozy november nights . . .

{p.s.} more wicker:
* summer to autumn
* paint-dipped baskets
* afternoons in the park & here & here
* breakfast in paris

. . . nearly always more drawn to crown molding and paneled and gilded walls, pools of silk and tufted velvet, floral wallpaper and warm herringbone floors than stark modernity, that is, unless the rooms have been touched by the work of swedish stylish lotta agaton, whose trailing vines in metallic pots and elegant bouquets of white roses add a luxe charm and an unmistakable air of warmth and romance . . .

. . . and on the topic of wool tartan dresses and caramel-coloured suede, early autumn also invokes wonderful thoughts of softly glowing fireplaces and luxurious faux fur throws, the romance of candlelight and evenings spent cozy at home, enveloped in the loveliest things such as in this grand victorian home, filled with marble tables and graceful archways, intricately carved wood mirrors and tufted chaises, and best of all, that inexplicably nostalgic and always welcoming warm & woodsy feeling . . .

. . . early autumn days always bring back thoughts of overwhelmingly cozy and welcoming rooms like the ones by manhattan-based interior designer tom scheerer -- overflowing in natural elements of wood and wicker, and luxurious textures of fur and velvet, a warm & woodsy palette steeped in a wonderfully relaxed modernism, and best of all, always beautiful and classic pieces such as the insanely stylish white and gold four poster bed made for dreaming of september sunsets . . .

. . . intricately panelled walls, juliet balconies and elegant fireplaces, floods of dusky and romantic light and stunning chevron floors -- if one could describe the beautiful and all too fleeting moments between late summer and early fall, perhaps it would as this . . .

{p.s.} more perfectly ornate walls:
* happily ever after
* gilt & chevron

trouvais-bed

. . . whether a wrought-iron italian campaign canopy or time-worn wood and draped in yards and yards of twilight gold linen, have always loved beds with canopies best, especially when strewn with crisp, late-summer white bedding and lacy, scalloped edges . . .
