{colour inspiration: golden coral & morning sky}

peonies-outdoor-dining

fgr-coral

. . . a softer, subtler, more romantic version of the classic combination of red and turquoise -- golden coral and morning sky -- and whether a bouquet of peonies at an afternoon dinner party or a delicate silk blouse against luxurious bed linens -- the intermingling of the two feels like a rush of spring air, billowing past curtains and fluttery skirts and bright petals in carved vases, ushering in long-awaited days of summer . . .

{hello & early morning musings}

. . . while it may be infinitely easier to slow things down {just a little} on weekends, during a busy work week, there is the wonderful opportunity to find a perfect balance, and while there is always time for cups of coffee and spring bouquets, after reading this earlier in the week, have come to the realization that, now more than ever, there might be more time set aside for breakfast and the morning paper, for afternoon tea away from the office and more late lunches on terraces, and time spent in the sun, especially with summer soon on its way . . .

{hope you had a beautiful weekend + links}

late-sunday-links-hed
peonies-weekend

. . . hello! was a {most luxurious} weekend for slowing things down, for strong coffee in gold-dipped french presses and the financial times on saturday morning, for late-night films sitting close and buttery croissants on sunday morning, for walks in the rain and waffle cones with scoops of mango and pralines & cream, and for time to breathe in every last beautiful moment, as if it would never end . . .

hope you had an astonishingly lovely weekend & that it's beautiful where you are, roséline xo

. . . hello again! had known the week would be a busy one, but was not prepared for the beautiful whirlwind it has become, and through the all the running around since it began -- the meetings, appointments, lunch dates, flower markets, shops and photo shoots, have not had as much time to stop in to say hello as much as would like, but in all the while, the most utterly charming and impossibly thoughtful messages have been coming through . . . how delightful! {& thank you} . . .

hope you're having a stunningly lovely week so far,

{how to: a pretty peony bouquet}

afternoon-delights-hed
chelsea1

. . . with floral patterns and magnolia wreaths in thoughts this week, and last evening's trip to the flower markets for six luxurious bouquets of roses, could not resist this lovely tutorial for a pretty peony bouquet wrapped in ribbons for a cloudy winter's day . . .

chelsea2

{you will need:} 5 yards of ribbon, flower clippers, string & peonies (10 stems, 5 in two colors)

chelsea3

{steps:}
1. condition flowers: re-cut stems, and place in a bucket of cold water overnight; keep away from food, fruit & drafts
2. remove most of the leaves, keeping only the ones that are towards the top of the stem, near the flower
3. take a few peonies and place in your hand (ex. left hand if you are right-handed)
4. as you add groups of flowers (about 3 stems each), turn the bouquet to the left
5. you will start to see the stems spiral

chelsea4

6. tie securely with string
7. wrap the ribbons over the string and stems to complete the bouquet

{p.s.} previous how-tos:
*
a classic english hand-tied bouquet
* a driftwood table lamp
* a side chignon
* a guide to champagne

. . . the last day of august and how it has arrived so quickly is a mystery, and while the early morning air has become a little cooler, the sun still shines warmly and whether it's ribbons or tulle, stripes on a chair or a soft cashmere sweater, whether in shades of monticello or azalea, somehow, the last days of summer always feels like pink . . .

{p.s.} today is also p's birthday and we're off to lose ourselves in beautiful things . . . à bientôt & hope your week is off to a perfect start xo

photographer per gunnarsson

. . . friday afternoons always seem to be the time when things begin to slow down a little for the weekend, and so it follows that it is also the time for floods of inspiration and happy discoveries, such as swedish photographer per gunnarsson's beautiful portfolio, filled with light and airy scandinavian style, and an impressive client list that includes hus & hem, sköna hem, ikea, elle interiör, and livingetc . . . of course, most drawn to the slate greys and smokey violets, in glass, velvet and lucite . . .

{p.s.} also interesting to compare these to the slightly more formal rooms in photographer andy liffner's portfolio & more smokey violet rooms here

{home inspiration: sofia's paris apartment}

. . . many shots of sofia coppola's new york apartment with the now famous beautiful blue george smith sofa, but only a few & fleeting photographs of the bright and perfect paris apartment, showcasing her trademark and favourite pale backgrounds offset by arm-fulls of pink peonies -- but by far the very best part is the stunningly lovely white linen sofa . . .

{balconies + pink bouquets}

. . . after falling for the wispy fabrics and pleated chiffon in erin fetherston's recent autumn/winter collection, was reminded of the enormously beautiful bouquet of pink peonies on the sun-drenched juliet balcony of her paris apartment, and how bright blossoms never fail to make everything feel like spring . . .
