H&M ISTANBUL OPENED TODAY!!!! WELCOME TO ISTANBUL H&M!
We've waited long and suprise! H&M opened today at Forum Istanbul. It was crowded and there was a line in front of H&M store (like what they have in NYC- a queue in front of MARC JACOBS boutique in NYC.).And I was there! Luckily I didn't have to wait in front of H&M to attend in but for payment - there were LONGEST QUEUES I've ever seen in my life.We waited almost an hour to pay for what we bought. It was CRAZY and TORTURE.The store was REALLY crowded and I couldn't find my size shoes. They were already run out of shoe sizes.WHY DIDN'T THEY STOCKED ENOUGH? Only bigger size shoes were left. And the store was just opened two hours ago.DISASTER.I've seen foreign workers in H&M thats really good to see multinational sales team.
my glovieszz
So many istanbuller fashion addicts were there to find out H&M.I had already done my fall/winter H&M shopping in Florance H&M, Rome H&M and Barcelona H&M with a massive shopping last months so I've seen similar clothes in the store of Istanbul.Honestly it was so crowded to try dresses, jeans or shorts so I only bought what I don't need to try on.I like accessories so I mainly had accessory shopping.I bought a black messenger bag, colour gloves in cuts, rings, two tops,a flower scarf and black wool thights.I couldn't check out everything cause I was worried about payment queues so I walked all around and tried boots that were never my size cause they already sold it to VIP with a party.H&M failed with the first exam about sizes.A new opened store can not run out of sizes in two hours. Its just because of VIP Party shopping they did a couple of days ago. There was nothing really left.Congrats of sales!
I'm sure they'll stock up sizes soon.I hope that.True H&M fans today, couldn't really find what they deserve for that pain of waiting in long long long queues...check out my BARCELONA H&M haul boots post by clicking here: BOOTS I bought from barcelona H&M
after H&M needs to gain energy back...YUMMY YUMMY:

Garrow Kedigian Kips Bay 2009
I couldn't post about Kips Bay without posting my all-time favorite Kips Bay room by Garrow Kedigian from last year's showhouse. Mr. Kedigian was a newcomer to Kips Bay and got stuck with the most undesirable room of the entire house- a 95 sq. ft maid's room on the 5th floor. Boy, did he stand up to the challenge!
Classic Greek mythological themes are used throughout. Notice the Greek Key pillows, carpet and the ancient-looking bust. Adore.
This room follows the same principle of Katie Ridder's entryway from this year's showhouse- go big and bold in a small space! I love the over-scaled painting, chandelier, and floral arrangement. They really pack a punch.
NY Times article on the 2009 Kips Bay Showhouse |
The orange lacquered wall help reflect light in this small space. The white 'moldings' were created with white paint which is more graphic than traditional molding and less expensive! Win Win!!

Kips Bay Showhouse 2010
The Kips Bay Showhouse is the pinnacle of all showhouses, year after year. After a looooonnnngggg wait (this year's showhouse was delayed 6 months), it's finally open! All proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club. If you are in NYC or will be visiting, make sure you drop on by as it closes it's doors after Nov. 11th. What I wouldn't do to go! Here's a few of the highlights:
Vincente Wolf hasn't participated in the showhouse since 1991, so this is quite a treat! On his decision to participate this year he said, "I think our times call for experience. It's a chance for the average person to walk into one of your rooms. It shows what decorators do, instead of the stupid TV shows that say you can do it for $5." Amen, Vincente. Amen.
And my personal winner of Best of Show:
What's not to love about this entry? I'm a big believer on making a style statement in a small space, like a entryway or powder room. This space would definitely make me feel welcome each and every time I came home. My favorite part? The coral finial. And the painted ceiling. And the pagoda wallpaper. And the pink trim. And the border on the runner. It's all in the details!!!
Aman Carson Interiors (Great design trick: add mirror to the back of a plain shelves to enlarge a space and infuse a little glamour.) |
Etienne Coffinier Designs Master Bath (The bubble installation was based off a Harper's Bazaar photo shoot from the 1960's. Love.) |
Eve Robinson Kitchen (I must research the chandelier. I die over it.) |
Jennifer Post Media Room (Clean, sleek and just about perfection.) |

Journey to the End of the Past
Photos by Norman Parkinson, Camilla Akrans, Snorpy, and 2 of them not sure who took them.
Happy Inspiration Friday!
How are you doing?
How was your week?
It's heating up a little bit after this cold summer,
which means my studio is painfully hot!
But besides that, it's all good.
Wow i can't believe it's November already.
Been working non-stop for the last 3 months.
I'm just finishing up a few projects right now
And should have a little over 10 Paintings to show you next week.
Really excited about them, can't wait for you too see them.
I hope you like the collection of images today! :)
