Last night I drew number 193 in my book. i'm closing in on the finish line. Only a few more drawing left for Volume Two. Oh, i was talking with my friend Miss Sophie Ward, and she was saying that there is a chance that Paper Castle Press might publish my character sketch book, which would be incredible! Like a dream come true, so i'll keep you posted. Hope you're having a great Saturday!
I've been scanning and showing you all my different sketchbooks. There are still a few more. There's still the "Old Sketch Book" which i should be posting soon, and my "Book of Figure Drawing" which... well i'm not sure if i will ever post that! haha. But the Book I'm posting from today is my weird book. I created this book in 2004, and i think i pretty much did it in one day. i was in a weird mood and i just started doodling and doodling and this book was the product of it.
Suddenly entertaining thoughts of becoming hopelessly un-citified, jetting off to a beautiful and fascinatingly exotic island and lured by the tide to collect perfect shells and starfish . . .
For those who have been the Italian restaurant "Di Buca Di Beppo" you know that every square inch of the place is covered in old photo's. And basically old 20's-30's photo's are on of my favorite things in the world. So Last year i went there with a bunch of friends and they sat us in this big booth, and gave us crayons and paper menus. To me when that happens my body can't resist the pull or the longing... it's like the greatest formula for the most terribly fun experience. Crayons and old pictures! yea i'm getting excited just thinking about it right now. so needless to say the drawings above are the result of the incredible night.
A few years a ago i started a journal... and i'm not one who sits and journals much, i usually sit and think. I wasn't really sure what the point of writing my thoughts down was. Any ways, so i thought instead of starting a journal i would make a book of "love". And instead of writing it to myself i would write it for my " true love " whoever that may be. Haha ok now i'm feeling a little too sappy. Hahah... but any ways here are some drawings out of it. some of it has been blacked out cause it's private, sorry about that.
As balmy breezes turn crisp and longer days fall silently into dusk earlier each night, am longingly aware that soon the pretty summer dresses and opened-toed sandals will be set aside for long scarves and soft cardigans . . . {and here: the last of the summer whites}
