. . . at this moment, red lipstick and a long sweep of silk taffeta, and excitement uncontained for a few days away . . . and there will be lingering soirées and champagne, laughter by firelight and snow and mistletoe . . . but first, hello & farewell and thank you so very much for reading all this time, for wonderfully thoughtful comments and beautifully written emails {& all the lovely holiday cards!} and for spending a part of your mornings & days caught up in the thoughts & musings here . . . wishing you holidays enveloped in warmth & laughter, family & friends, and most of all, love, love, love and arms to hold you tight on these late december nights . . .

a very merry christmas to you &

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Only two more presents to wrap before I'm 100% ready for the big day!  You know you are an interior designer when you spend just as much time (if not more) wrapping and garnishing presents than you did selecting the actual gift.  That and all the presents you wrap are color coordinated and you hide the ones that aren't in the back far reaches under the tree.  Not that I do these things...

I wish all my readers all the warmth this season has to offer!

. . . and as a perfect foil for all the glittering & glamorous gold recently: shimmering silver pine cones and sparkling numbered votives, and for good measure, a bit of silver tinsel atop a pair of peeptoes for nights merry & bright . . .

{holiday inspiration: the spirit of giving}

. . . ever since their crystal & gold tray was featured here last autumn, many have been smitten with the stunningly lovely things found at rablabs, and since it's the season for giving, few things are lovelier than an utterly beautiful gift that also supports a great cause -- and this year -- rablabs has teamed up with tri-state bird rescue, an organization working to manage the rehabilitation of oiled wildlife in the gulf coast, to offer a new line of coasters inspired by the enchanted dreams of the ocean
. . .

rablabs-oceano-coasters

. . . made from natural rocks found in the heart of brazil, the exquisitely elegant ocean coasters are formed from the unique tides and eddies of mineral-rich water flowing through ancient lava streams, their deep blue-green hues reflecting the intensely saturated color and mystery of the ocean . . .

founded in response to mass wildlife destruction resulting from oil spills, tri state bird rescue & research has been rehabilitating birds since 1976; with this new collaboration with rablabs, 20% of the proceeds from these brazilian agate coasters in the special edition oceano range will be donated to this wonderful cause

. . . and so, if still searching for that last perfect gift . . . here

{p.s.} happy, happy monday! hope your week is off to a beautiful start,

. . . and while we're on the topic of spending the holidays in warm places, quite adore the idea of decorating an elegant evergreen wreath with seaside inspired starfish, even as the icicles glisten in the late-december light and a soft blanket of freshly fallen snow beautifully envelopes a perfect winter's afternoon . . .

. . . may have played with the notion of winter white, or pale & pretty neutrals, bits of silver, or warm slate & evergreen, and perhaps even crimson, but in the end, knew it would always be glittering gold . . .

. . . summer feels like a beautiful dream and the last of the autumn leaves have fluttered away, and now, it's waking up to mornings of romantically swirling snowflakes, wreaths of holly and towers of meringue, ruffled bed canopies and gold satin slipcovers, gingerbread with icing and the warmth of crackling fires, fairy lights and candlelight and the most beautifully decorated trees, and most of all, a feeling of magic in the air . . .
