. . . in the very midst of the most luxuriously relaxing weekend and sundays are always the loveliest of days . . . there has been time for books and music and handwritten letters, lattes and glossy magazines and tables for two at new restaurants, cut-crystal glasses of chianti and daffodils in spring gardens, sunlight on gold leaf and fallen petals on venetian glass, and most of all, there has been time for making plans . . .

{fashion inspiration: dark sequins & gunmetal}

. . . when it comes to sequins, absolutely adore them all, and at any time of day, but always and especially drawn to the glittery gold ones best, and especially with champagne on a saturday night . . . that is, until recently, and now lately quite taken with dark sequins -- perhaps it is the festiveness of halloween or late-october's blustery, overcast skies, but whatever the reason, glimmering shades of slate and cobalt, black and navy, are suddenly altogether too bewitching to resist . . .

. . . august has always been a bittersweet month with thoughts of summer's fading days lingering in the air, a light and breezy linen dress one afternoon, a cozy camel-coloured cardigan the next, and with each night that falls, the knowledge that soon the days will become shorter and the nights . . . they will be brushed in shades of sable and onyx and scattered with candlelight and bits of gold . . .
