{summer inspiration: a perfect picnic}

lets-go-on-a-picnic
loewe-picnic-basket

. . . if you have been reading for a while, you will know about a certain and undying love for summer afternoon picnics, as well as for the fun accessories that go along with such romantic afternoons, and this picnic hamper from spanish fashion label loewe could not be lovelier -- gold-rimmed china and gilded flatware, all held together with perfect pink accents -- add a little champagne and a dashing companion, and the world falls away . . .

{shoes, shoes, shoes: rose suede & gold}

charlotte-olympia-hed
charlotte-olympia

. . . and while we're on the topic of pretty platforms, have been taken with the now iconic charlotte olympia court shoe with its ultra elegant lines and stunningly chic gold metallic platform for quite some time now, and while it also comes in black, red, and natural raffia {also lovely!}, there is something so utterly romantic about the rose suede that is impossible to resist . . .

{hope you had a beautiful weekend + links}

late-sunday-links-hed
peonies-weekend

. . . hello! was a {most luxurious} weekend for slowing things down, for strong coffee in gold-dipped french presses and the financial times on saturday morning, for late-night films sitting close and buttery croissants on sunday morning, for walks in the rain and waffle cones with scoops of mango and pralines & cream, and for time to breathe in every last beautiful moment, as if it would never end . . .

hope you had an astonishingly lovely weekend & that it's beautiful where you are, roséline xo

. . . last week's links fell away to the excitement and utter romance of the royal wedding, and this week's nearly fell away to late dinner dates and charming company; saturday afternoon at the market and evenings of sparkling lemon spritzers and unbearably exciting plans; long sunday afternoon walks in impossible sunshine and the stunningly heady scent of hyacinths . . .

hope you had a lovely weekend & that it was beautiful where you are, roséline xo

. . . having flirted shamelessly with irresistibly fun and tempestuous bolts of colour recently, this past weekend, in open-toed sandals {for the first time this spring} and toes newly enveloped in chanel's rose satin, have fallen always and again in love with shades of nude and blush and champagne, the pale and pretty hues insanely perfect for mid-spring afternoons . . .

{wishing you a happy spring}

a-new-beginning-hed
pink-blossoms-picnic

"It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!"

~Mark Twain

. . . and at long last, the eternal enchantment that is spring has arrived, and while winter may have its cozy, fire-lit nights, spring has its breezes by starlight and magnolia blossoms in sunlight, its long-awaited, lingering excitement that soon there will be pleated skirts and picnics, café crème and macarons in quaint light-filled cafés in late morning, and butterflies and golden skies in early evening . . .

happy spring! hope it is filled with beautiful things & new beginnings,
~ roséline xo

{p.s.} spent most of the day, yesterday, out of the office in favour of working in a sun-drenched café, having apparently already fallen to spring fever and there's magic in the air

{a glossary of rose fragrances}

spring-things-header
glossary1

glossary2

. . . at this moment, there are beautiful bouquets of roses everywhere, creating a perfumed oasis with a million softly luxurious scents lingering in the air, and during these moments, am reminded of martha stewart's glossary or rose fragrances -- there are modern roses and climbing roses, hybrid tea roses and old garden roses, and whether light or heady, vanilla or musk, always fascinating to read about the different varieties, and about how each rose's scent varies with the weather and time of day, strongest on mild and somewhat humid mornings, and fading or changing as the hours pass by . . .

{p.s.} what is your favourite scent -- fresh, floral, spicy, sexy . . . ? and you have a signature scent?

. . . airplanes and altitudes aside, it is proving a little more difficult than anticipated to properly get back into things after a week away, especially while feeling a little under the weather from a sudden late-winter cold, but after a few deadlines, projects and social obligations, {including dinner reservations with family from out-of-town}, perhaps a little repose and an inordinate amount of beauty sleep, and things will be as they should . . . for tomorrow, a very exciting announcement, and later in the week, a few glimpses of the past week in paris . . .

"Paris is always a good idea."

. . . hello!
. . . things have been rather sporadic around here this week, with valentine's day on monday, finishing projects, last-minute preparations, and an ever-overflowing stream of emails, but most excitingly, cases to pack and a flight to catch, and now, a few beautiful days in paris . . .

uncertain when there next will be a moment to say hello, and so, for now, a fond farewell and à la prochaine,
xo
