. . . a very late but warm hello! it's lovely to see you again . . . this weekend was miles and miles of sunshine, some time at the shops and a new pair of perfectly chic suede summer sandals with gilded clasps; long walks at sunset and a saturday night film {bill cunningham new york -- [have you seen? so good]} with buttery popcorn; scented candles in the evening and strong coffee in the mornings, a table for two high above the world, with utterly breathtaking views of the city, and gardens overflowing with the intoxicating scent of white lilacs and sweet-smelling secret bunches of lilies of the valley . . .

happy monday! hope you had a beautiful weekend filled with little moments of repose & that your week is off to a perfect start, roséline xo

. . . hello again! . . . a scandalously late start, to be certain, but was such a bright and beautiful day, spent much of it in the sun, a long walk and a late lunch, and if truth be told, still a little in daydreams from last week, and after coffee and lipstick and thoughts on love, it's back to work and a brand new week . . .

hope you had an impossibly lovely weekend & that your week is off to a perfect start, roséline xo

. . . there is a vintage sterling silver serviette holder on my desk {below}, that is used for favourite photographs, letters, invitations, and gold foil-lined envelopes; however with a change in season and a brand new month, aside from the overwhelming desire to throw open every french door and window, there are also thoughts of redoing, perhaps repainting, but most of all, reorganizing, and at this moment {besides the closets} it is the office, currently overflowing with letters, cards, bills, receipts and recent boarding passes . . . and the serviette holder, however lovely, can only hold so much, so perhaps a silver vintage toast rack {beautiful and practical} may be just the thing . . .

. . . and if you ever find yourself roaming about the antique markerts early one saturday morning, in paris, or otherwise, a latte in hand a boyfriend in tow, you'll most likely find a wonderful array. . . and of course, for those quiet moments on weekday mornings, there is always a vast assortment online, from etsy, {here}, and ebay, {here} . . .

monday morning: toasted pistachio and honey yogurt

. . . after sunday's luxuriously languid ways, monday mornings are often a whirlwind of flying clothes and pretty mary janes, {and this morning}, finally settling on a long pleated skirt and side-swept bangs fastened with glittery barrette, with only enough time for a very strong french coffee -- and must confess -- often miss breakfast . . . but if there were time in the morning, there would most definitely be {at the very least} a mango smoothie or, even better, toasted pistachio & honey yogurt, but, happily, on the weekends, there is always time for sunday brunch . . .

espresso

. . . headlong into autumn and it's dark evenings steeped in chilliness and stars brighter than ever, and could not think of a better way to begin early november mornings than with pale golden light and an espresso & cinnamon sugar biscotti . . .

*****************************

{cinnamon sugar biscotti}

ingredients: (makes 24)

2 cups (5 dl) flour
1 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon cardamom
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 1/2 dl) sugar
6 tablespoons (125 g) butter, room temperature
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg for brushing
1/4 cup (1/2 dl) sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

combine flour, cinnamon, cardamom, baking powder and salt; in a separate bowl, beat soft butter and sugar until light and fluffy; mix in egg, egg yolk and vanilla extract; add in dry ingredient mixture and mix just until combined

form two flattened bars (a bit more than an inch /3 cm thick) onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper; brush with lightly beaten egg and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture; bake at 325 F (160 C) for 35-40 minutes or until the bars are golden and firm to touch

allow the bars to cool for a few minutes, then cut into 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) wide diagonal slices; flip cut side down and sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar mixture; bake for around 10 minutes until crispy

{hello + a few things}

. . . hello! apologies for the rather sporadic start to the week -- one of those dashing about days, meetings and appointments, a quick stop at the market on the way home for a bouquet of champagne-coloured roses and now there's much catching up, but also a few wonderful things to share a little later, as well as another beautiful give-away, so check back if you like -- would be lovely to see you xo
