deep-pink-peonies

. . . hello again! had known the week would be a busy one, but was not prepared for the beautiful whirlwind it has become, and through the all the running around since it began -- the meetings, appointments, lunch dates, flower markets, shops and photo shoots, have not had as much time to stop in to say hello as much as would like, but in all the while, the most utterly charming and impossibly thoughtful messages have been coming through . . . how delightful! {& thank you} . . .

hope you're having a stunningly lovely week so far,

happy weekend

the-coveted2

. . . the midst of another winter weekend after a wonderfully whirling week, and it has been coffee & croissants in the morning and whisked away out of town for dinner in the evening, a glittering set of antique cut crystal stemware sent as a surprise from p's grandmother, and now, cozy on a saturday night with languid dreams of a late morning and sunday brunch, flower markets and the heady sent of luxurious bouquets, mohair blankets and the utter romance of watching the world fall away . . .

hope you're having a stunningly lovely weekend wherever you may be & that it's beautiful where you are,

. . . while most often in skinny jeans and tall leather boots by day and dresses sprinkled with sequins by night, always secretly loved the formal days of dressing up in trouser suits or pantsuits for meetings & appointments, especially if they are influenced in part by the sophisticated seventies, or a modern interpretation of the sexiest pantsuit of all, yves saint laurent's le smoking . . .

{p.s.} more work wear & a three-piece

hello again! perhaps a little astonishing how quickly the time has flown, as it would seem as if the days are fading beautifully into one, and after a wonderfully busy and rather eventful week, spending a little time lost in love and the possibilities of the night sky, enveloped in floral linen mornings and, most of all, languidly late afternoons spent lounging about . . .

whatever your plans may be, hope you're having a beautiful weekend,

{inspiration: a stunning gold desk}

. . . and while we're on the topic of inspiring work spaces, Aerin Lauder's 30's French steel and mirror desk at work {previous post} is rivaled only by the glamorous gold vintage Gabriella Crespi desk in her home office:

{the desk is Italian, circa 1970 and constructed of brass over wood}

{creme puffs + meringue}

Lately have been feeling festive and finding myself drawn to yards and yards of tulle -- there's just something about the wonderfully fine netting that's incredibly romantic and reminds me of daydreams and ballerinas and softly diffused light streaming through billowing curtains . . .

{a new week + sequins}

Have always liked the way sequins glimmer when they catch the light and the sense of playful luxe they evoke . . .

Beautiful, show-stopping pieces bring Fall’s casual looks to a rich, sophisticated level by adding pure glamour to layered knits and turning laid-back looks into timeless, cosmopolitan style.

{the classic chignon}

There is a film called 'Le Chignon d'Olga' in which a young man falls hopelessly in love with a girl after he glimpses her chignon from afar . . .

Something about Fall always reminds me of this simple, yet incredibly sophisticated hairstyle.

The word chignon {shee-nyawn} comes from the French phrase “chignon du cou,” which means nape of the neck and refers to a large, smooth twist, roll, or knot of hair, worn by women at the nape of the neck or the back of the head.

The chignon completes any outfit, is as perfect for the gallery as it is for a day at home, and best of all, it's both elegantly demure and wonderfully sexy at the same time . . .
