The Ladies of Meisel

Danny Roberts Sketch of Steven Miesel picture of Gemma Ward and a few other models nude in a tube

Hello, my friends. How did your day go???
Mine flew by so fast.
Since you all had so many nice words about the Character Sketchbook....
I thought i'd post an image from Volume 3 of the Character Sketchbook,
(which is the Volume i am currently working on).
This picture is from a photoshoot of one of my favorite photographers, Steven Meisel.
I thought i would censore the painting cause i wouldn't want anyone to be offended :)
But if you want to see the original version of the picture Click Here.
I hope you like it!

So i was sitting looking at some fashion collections from a few years ago,
which makes me have a few questions for you...
1: What year in the 2000's do you think had the best Fashion Collections?
2: What year in the 2000's do you think had the best editorials?
3: What year in the 2000's do you think had the best models?

I got my answers... Excited to hear your thoughts! :)

Coco-Pumpkin Pie

A portrait of Danny Roberts holding a pumpkin he painted of Model Coco Rocha

Hahaha I did it!! Well, kind of.... haha
So I tried, key word TRIED, to carve a pumpkin today...
Yes, it was kind of a major failure...
Don't get me wrong, i had a blast attempting to cut that thing to pieces.
By the time i was done, the pumpkin was falling apart!
So, i regrouped and thought I would paint the back-up pumpkin.
And who better to paint than the pumpkin haired model Coco Rocha!
So, a few hours later, this was the by product.
Ok, so i know it's kinda trippy looking, but it was my first time painting on something spherical.
I hope you like it! Oh, also going to Gen Art's Fresh Faces in Fashion show tomorrow night.
Pretty excited to see the new designers.
Also, what do you think of the new site?
Well, it's kinda a new site. Spent the day working on cleaning the look of the blog up. :)
Well, my friends, i hope you like the pumpkin and Happy Early Halloween.

Wow, wait a sec!
I almost forgot to mention something...
Where are my manners?
I heard from Alexa Chung!!!!!
I got a message from her today, saying thank you for the painting.
Thank you, thank you friends for your help; really means alot!!!
And Alexa, if you're reading this, thank you so much, definitely made my day!
And if you want the painting, i would be happy to send it to you! ;)

Oh yea if you have Lookbook you can Vote for the look here ;)

Coco Rocha part 2

IDanny Roberts Second Painting of model Coco Rocha

Hey, hey, hey, my friends, sorry for all the inconsistant blogging on my part.
It's always tough to blog when traveling.
Well, i arrived home last night,
and i have been sorting through 24 gigs of videos and pictures from the trip.
Believe me, the pictures will be up soon!
The wedding was amazing!
Ryan was the first out of my long time group of best friends to get married,
so it was a real treat. Alice looked amazing (pictures are coming soon)
and the setting was amazing, everything was great!

On another note,
this painting is a second veriation of a painting i did a little while back of Coco Rocha.
i thought i would try some funky processes on it and see what would happen... crazy looking huh>?
Well, i'm off to bed a little jet laggged!
Hope you all are doing wonderful!

{a new week + sequins}

Have always liked the way sequins glimmer when they catch the light and the sense of playful luxe they evoke . . .

Beautiful, show-stopping pieces bring Fall’s casual looks to a rich, sophisticated level by adding pure glamour to layered knits and turning laid-back looks into timeless, cosmopolitan style.
