{style inspiration: perfect platforms}

sophisticated-seventies-hed
prada-platforms

. . . a new pair of white strappy summer wedges earlier last week, for traipsing about town and blossom-laden walks with the dog, the third pair of wedges already this spring, and summer has yet to begin, and yet, after happening across these utterly charming prada platforms {above}, perfectly paired with pressed trousers turned in an ultra-chic french cuff in the most enchanting shade of august sunrise, am becoming quite smitten with platforms and their teetering heights and already imagine them with romantically flirty & lacy summer dresses for quiet lunch dates on cobbled terraces surrounded by spring flower boxes of pussy willows and daffodils . . .

. . . absurdly in love with spring's vibrant hues -- lips in shades of coral & cerise and belted dresses in riotous purple, frolicsome jumpsuits in shimmery turquoise and flirtatious dresses in peach and long skirts paired with tangerine -- such a wildly welcome change from winter's grey days and suddenly, the air feels electric . . .

{favourite five: denise porcaro}

favourite-five-hed
denise-final2.001

"I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers."
~Claude Monet

. . . to enter the world of
denise porcaro is to be swept away into an enchanting realm you only thought possible in the secret garden . . .

denise, the founder and owner of the alluring flower girl in nyc, has taken floral design to new heights with her exquisite eye for beauty and ethereal arrangements -- a delicate bundle she creates with dainty garden roses, ravishing wild flowers, or lavish peonies wrapped with the
prettiest of ribbons will whisk you away into the romance of a bygone era

with a client list that includes stella mccartney, chanel and the
illustrious plaza hotel of manhattan {and a blooming career that has graced the pages of vogue, instyle and elle} we will definitely be paying close attention to denise's:

......................................................................................................

{five favourite pieces of advice for running a business}

1. dedication is key: know that if you're going to go for something, it should envelope your whole life; you're married to your business in a way, and you should know that going into it

2.
have a business plan: you don't need a big business plan -- it can even be written on the back of a bar napkin -- you just need to write down your goals and visualize them happening

3. do what you love: if you're doing what you love, it is that much easier; it cuts all the work in half when it is your passion

4. read your client: cater to your client's unique taste; listen to them, their budget, their likes and dislikes -- that's what we do at
flower girl -- we don't give our clients “package a” or “package b”, but really sit with them and figure out exactly what they want and do our best to give them exactly that

5. don’t sweat the small stuff: this is much easier said than done; when you're a perfectionist and you're doing this sort of work, it's hard not to sweat the small stuff, but you have to keep perspective and remember the big picture

Eye Candy: Morning Beauty

 A gorgeous little photo shoot.

This photo shoot reminds me of "Water for Elephants" an a-MAY-zing book, I wish I had more time to finish.   Even though that "Twilight" boy is the main character, I can not wait until the movie is released this Spring!

{have a magical halloween weekend}

happy weekend

. . . if there were talk previously, about time having flown, there is no comparison for the month of october, which nearly already seems as a distant dream . . . and for now, there is the thought of pumpkin pie and flickering candlelight, old friends to be reacquainted with and new memories to make, long walks and clasped hands amidst the last of the fallen leaves . . . and whether gilded pumpkins or mysterious & enchanted masquerades, wishing you the most magical weekend . . .

see you again next week & hope it's beautiful where you are,

{ewan mcgregor & natalia vodianova, vogue}

. . . always quite adored ewan mcgregor, and natalia has been a favourite for as long as can remember -- and together in vogue, entangled in the stylings of a torrid 1950s domestic drama complete with silk taffeta, ruffled bodices, elegant luggage and perfectly upswept hair -- is much too fun and proves a perfect distraction from overflowing e-mail & voicemail on this late june afternoon . . .

{shopping: billykirk carryalls}

roland bello

. . . one of the best things about springtime, besides the impossibly lovely blossoming trees, is that it leads to summer, and summer is where the heart belongs -- the luxurious, hazy sunshine, the long, sultry nights, and most of all, the romantic weekends away; and despite best intentions, have the most difficult time traveling light and so, always looking for new carryalls -- a current favourite is this waxed cotton & oiled leather no. 165 medium carryall, perfect for all the extra little things that couldn't possibly fit into the three bags already packed . . .

{p.s.} more favourites here & here
