{table for two: crab bruschetta}

crab-bruschetta2

. . . this week's table for two is a beautiful {& stunningly delicious!} starter made by p over the holiday weekend, crab bruschetta, from donna hay's seasons -- the subtle tastes and textures were exquisite . . .

{crab bruschetta}

4 thin slices sourdough bread
olive oil, for brushing
2 tablespoons whole-egg mayonnaise
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 teaspoons finely grated lime rind
sea salt and cracked black pepper
400g cooked crab meat
1 large mild green chilli, sliced
2 green onions (scallions), sliced
lime wedges, to serve

Preheat the oven to 180°C (355°F). Brush the oil and place on a baking tray. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until crispy and golden. Set aside. Place the mayonnaise, lime juice and rind, salt and pepper in a bowl and whisk well to combine. Add the crab and toss to combine. Spoon the crab mixture onto the bread, top with the chilli and green onion and serve with the lime. Serves 4.

. . . hello! . . . had meant to tell you earlier, {and some of you on twitter may have already heard}, but it's the holidays, and there is a beautiful bedlam, and so: at this moment, impossibly excited to announce the news that club monaco has launched an ultra-stylish new blog, much like the inspiration board here, and it is utterly filled with wonderful things, and best of all . . . has invited {this is glamorous} to be a contributor, alongside a perfect mix of designers, stylists, and even a violinist, the always fun refinery29, as well as many other wonderfully creative and inspiring people -- such a delight to be included!

. . . {click here} if you like, for photographs of the things am currently inspired by, from sequined shoes to oysters in paris, staircases in edinburgh and whatever else catches my breath . . .

. . . had been planning to debut this fun new feature earlier in the week, but it's the holidays and things are already a beautiful whirlwind of festivities, and so, today, wonderfully excited to announce a brand new series: in my closet, a glimpse of some of the things that am currently wearing & adore, beginning with this ultra-stylish and perfectly preppy tartan hooded coat . . .

. . . always a certain fondness for all things classic & a little preppy, and especially for tartan, and while have always adored lauren moffat's vintage-chic style, absolutely adore the fall 2010 collection, with its cashmere cardigans and silk charmeuse tops, but especially the tartan pieces, and most of all, this tartan coat, perfect with jeans and tall leather boots {and opera gloves if it's chilly}
for traipsing about on early december afternoons, or belted and paired with socks and heels for an evening at a new gallery exhibition, or lattes for two beneath the chandeliers of a quaint café . . .

"One belongs to New York instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years."
~thomas wolfe

. . . a few summer weekends ago, spent a few hot and hazy days in new york city, days filled with early morning swims, bellinis and brunches and sundrenched terraces, afternoon markets and dusky shops with herringbone floors, glasses of perfectly chilled champagne and red velvet cupcakes, sunset in the park and long, lingering moments soaking in the intoxicating energy all around, leaving with memories of dinner on the very last night among topiaries and carrera -- oysters to start, followed by seared sea scallops, rocchetta, medjool dates, lardoons with champagne vinaigrette . . . and it was farewell until next time . . .

. . . spending most of our summer weekends away in the countryside, markets and antique shops on saturday mornings, leisurely dinners that last until nightfall and, most wonderfully, a summer picnic on a perfect july afternoon, deep green leaves flickering in sunlight, intermingling with battenburg lace and the scent of sweetheart roses, champagne and the glimmer of vintage cut crystal, fine floral print china and fresh strawberry tarts, and most of all, the air filled with a dreamy and magical light . . .

{at home: fresh flowers + golden light}

. . . always lovely to have a saturday afternoon to spend at the market, and recently did just that: he, picking up ingredients for a new paella recipe, and i, happening upon the most charming bouquets of ranunculus and roses in stunning shades of sunset and cerise and -- once home -- utterly enchanted by each perfect petal caught in the golden rays of late afternoon light . . .

“Travel does what good novelists also do to the life of everyday, placing it like a picture in a frame or a gem in its setting, so that the intrinsic qualities are made more clear. Travel does this with the very stuff that everyday life is made of, giving to it the sharp contour and meaning of art.”
