{inspiration: summer solstice}

. . . deep into summer and it's as many wonderfully languorous hours en plein air as possible, an afternoon spent dreaming away or lost in the pages of a beautiful book and breathing the scent of a million blossoms, or idyllically swinging from the boughs of a perfect tree, or best of all, lilting conversations over an early evening dinner under the cover of the most charming canopy in a shade lost somewhere between lilac and lavender . . .

. . . while there are many ways to handle overcast late-winter afternoons, there is nothing quite like romantic winter florals and cozy & soft smokey lavender scarves to instantly brighten things up . . .

. . . can hardly contain the excitement of decorating for the holidays, and every year, a new colour theme -- seafoam & silver, champagne & gold and everything all aglow, or the frostiest shades of blue mixed with shimmery shades of tinsel. . . and this year, of course, smokey lavender & the palest gold . . .

{at the shops: cranberry milk}

The lovely shop Cranberry Milk is filled with wonderfully pretty French-inspired things for the home and office -- from picnic baskets to lavender mugs, numbered paper clips and polka-dot tape -- and despite being unable to read the text, it's all so beautifully photographed, everything feels as if it belongs in a charming stone cottage in Provence . . .

Chalky, chalky dove grays, pinks, and lavenders, as calm and serene as a rare afternoon spent daydreaming . . .

Clearly am not the only one who has fallen for such a lovely whisper of colour, as pinkish tones are everywhere lately. . . and if it were not for living with a charming Brit who prefers more neutral tones and perhaps grays, would happily surround myself in this calming and beautiful hue . . .
